The End

It appears we’ve found ourselves now at the end of a very long path, and we had to make a decision.

ZIP is a name that’s been held onto for a long time. 2012 in fact, so 11 years. We’ve changed so much in that time, both as individual people but also as a unit; our identity and image we want to put forward isn’t the same as it was even 5 years ago, let alone a decade. Because of this, we have made the difficult decision to close Zero Imagination Productions effective immediately.

Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first:

  • We have no plans to shutter online services for VirtuaCreature.
  • VirtuaCreature will not be removed from sale on Steam, where old games can sit indefinitely. In fact, we may still even update it sometimes!
  • The (unsupported) Google Play release will likely be taken down at some point. We will look into having a direct download available eventually for Android users.

We are proud of what we created together and intend to keep it around for the foreseeable future. There is no drama or underlying issues motivating this decision. This is simply a dissolution of the name and status as a company, meaning future updates (or future projects that we collaborate on) will be handled differently. What that will look like is currently undecided. Our social media accounts will likely be converted to this new identity when we have something to say, so please continue to follow them if you want to see where we go next!

Thank you for everyone who’s stuck with us. We’ve been working on a long retrospective of this entire project and hope to have that ready as a final goodbye in the near future.
